Gareth Holgate attended Rydal Penrhos College in North Wales before graduating from the University of Cardiff with a Bachelor of Architecture. He used to play for the Philippine Volcanoes, the country’s rugby team. His outstanding performance in the Asian 5 Nations rugby tournament qualified him for the World Cup in Moscow. He returned to the Philippines and began working for SDW Construction, a start-up construction company eventually becoming its project manager.
Initially, Gareth tried to balance his work and athletic life. But as the firm grew, he devoted more time to expanding this newly founded company. Gareth, who has a background in architecture, shifted the company’s core business as a General Contractor and introduced additional design services to its capabilities.
Gareth’s five guiding principles are our team, environment, planning, partners, and communication. He says, “The culture within that team is the environment, and the team is the glue that holds the business together. Any successful project requires timely planning, and partners make this feasible. Effective communication is essential at all levels and with all partners, delivering positive or negative news. As the project progresses, this fundamental aspect of the business is overlooked or neglected.”
As CEO of SDW Realty & Development, Inc., Gareth Holgate aspires to make his organization the partner of choice for fit-out construction projects in the Philippines. He continues to work on developing solutions, whether through implementing new automated systems to modernize and streamline internal procedures and operations or through the practical application of cutting-edge construction technology.
Brian Tiu has high-level experience in engineering, construction, supervision, and project management, from initiation and execution until project completion. During his 18 years of working for big companies abroad, Brian has acquired knowledge in engineering management, project management, construction management, cost management, tender and bid management, and value engineering management.
As Senior Commercial Manager and Deputy CEO, Brian Tiu contributes significantly toward achieving SDW’s objective, mission, and vision.
Stephen Jones has a wealth of knowledge and expertise built over 40 years within the construction industry. Most recently in the Middle East (15 years), he worked within the interiors market leading the operations department on some of the most prestigious turnkey design and build projects, from high-end hospitality to commercial and residential.
Currently, Stephen Jones heads the operations division of SDW Realty & Development Inc. as the Operations Director.
Ronald Sangil is an Economics graduate from the University of Alberta, Canada with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry working with companies such as Mount Arayat Development Corp., YATS International, Philippine Sundt Construction, and HMR Group of Companies.
Ron identifies and develops relationships with industry professionals to generate new business opportunities which he does through direct prospecting, networking, attending, and participating in various industry and professional groups along with multiple chamber associations to continually promote company services and facilitate inquiries. He also actively preserves existing accounts to expand those relationships.
Leizel Ubalde is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications major in Journalism with 20 years of diverse and extensive experience in the field of marketing, sales, communication, and training working in various industries. Her expertise includes strategic planning, integrated marketing, digital marketing, communication, content creation, social media management, website design & management, event management, and project management.
Currently, Leizel leads SDW’s marketing in promoting the company as the Partner of Choice for design, build, and development projects and the Company of Choice for people looking for a bright opportunity in the construction industry.
Arch. Anthony Federico is a Professional Registered Licensed Architect with 7 years of work experience in interior fit-out design and construction. He started his career with one of the Philippine-based construction companies specializing in interior fit-out of high-end casinos, resorts, and hotels. Anthony is a team player and a site architect who works with lead builders and consultants to deliver projects on time.
For the past 3 years, Anthony Federico managed SDW’s design team in producing drawings and layouts and assisted clients in projects. He constantly monitors worksites to ensure that construction adheres to architectural plans and meets agreed specifications, budgets, and timescales.
Perci Abuel brings with him 16 years of solid design and creative experience ranging from office furniture to interior and architectural design. Many years of his career were dedicated to creative design concepts. His extensive experience in furniture, interior, and architectural designs started from simple office furniture visualization to large-scale interior and exterior concept designs of offices, condominiums, commercial establishments, hotels, and resorts. He has then extended his expertise as an Artist from graphics to 3D concept to photography, videography, and 3d virtual tour.
Perci Abuel is instrumental in delivering creative concept and design study that leads to major client projects of SDW including Transcom, Favor church, Mars Wrigley, Sitel, and Telus.
Allan Jay Carino
Allan Jay Cariño earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. Before SDW, he was a designer in charge of retail showroom & booth design for large-scale exhibitions of an international brand. From schematic design concepts to project management, he expanded his skills in handling multiple projects with relatively tight timelines and was eventually mentored by a foreign director. Apart from this, he had the opportunity to work with and collaborate with foreign designers.
Years later, Allan Jay Cariño, became an FFE designer in a multinational design firm and was exposed to doing furniture, lighting, casework design & specs writing for hospitality projects.
Later on, AJ as he is called by his peers, joined SDW as one of the pioneer FFE team members of SDW that execute projects such as We Work, Regus, Ibex, and Pru Life UK to name a few. Now, he is in charge of leading the sourcing of FFE finishes (wall finishes, floor, loose furniture, lighting & the like) for various corporate fit-outs.
AJ is also active in competitive sports like badminton & volleyball which enabled him to develop a mindset of both a leader and team player he continuously renders through his work.
